Mat Latos
An interview with Mat Latos from March 30, 2011 while playing for the San Diego Padres. A hefty price was paid for the Cincinnati Reds to acquire Latos from the Padres yesterday afternoon. Edinson Volquez, Yonder Alonso, Yasmani Grandal, and Brad Boxberger were all shipped out west.
Prospects.

There is already plenty anticipation for the Reds’ 2012 season. As the Cardinals are doing there best to lose the World Series, here are a few more reasons to look forward to 2012 and your Cincinnati Redlegs.

This dude can’t get a win to save his life. In ten starts for the Reds during 2011, Willis has received zero wins and four losses, all while posting a 4.10 ERA in just over 59 innings pitched. His worst and only outing in which he allowed more than three earned runs was on August 14 against the Padres when he left the game during the second inning because of an injury after allowing four. Lefties are hitting just .148 off Dontrelle this season and Mr. Willis is batting .409 in 22 at-bats.
*Update - During Mr. Willis’ next start, on September 9, the trend continued. Willis went seven innings, fanned eight batters, and walked five batters as he allowed an expected four runs. The Reds scored just three times to send Dontrelle into a 0-5 record.

Kevin Manly from Green Diamond Gallery will be on 1530 am with Mo at 4:33pm. Listen.
Eleven.
This is what happens when a team wins their division. Your cincinnati Reds are now eleven games out of first place in their division.
“If we need that extra push over the cliff, ‘ya know what we do?”
“Eleven, exactly.”
“These go to eleven.”
Thought of this Redleg classic as I watched Matt Belisle get a win against his former Cincinnati team on Monday night while playing for the Rockies.
“Come see these kids play!”
The Reds’ season is coming to a halt in the standings. After a 2-4 road trip in which many said the Reds must go at least 4-2 to stay within reach of first place in the NL Central; the Reds return home to play seven games against Colorado and San Diego, two teams with below .500 records. Now it seems that our beloved Reds will be focusing on 2012. Whether it’s Dave Sappelt, Yonder Alonso, or some other player trying to capture the spotlight, the remainder of the 2011 regular season for Cincinnati will be one to watch for those preparing for next season.
